We Are Bisexuality: Cody

#WeAreBisexuality is a month-long campaign to share the stories of Bisexuals during Bisexual Visibility Month. Stories and photographs shared with the permission of the parties involved. Share your story with us all throughout Bisexual Visibility Month.

Cody is a 21 year old bisexual man who put up with a lot of anxiety during his realization years –

“I became comfortable with my sexuality as a freshman in high school. I wasn’t too scared to officially come out until my senior year. My sophomore and junior years I attended a church that used the “Pray The Gay Away” method which caused me to have a lot of anxiety and self hatred about being bisexual. After I stopped attempting that church I felt so comfortable and ready to come out. As of today I am officially out to everyone. “

Now he’s in a position where he can be happy and out, and has some tips for other bisexuals in his position –

“Don’t believe that you can’t be bi. Your sexuality is valid. You’re real. It’s okay. ”

  1. After surviving a suicide internalized biphobia, I became first Bisexual liaison at Center on Halsted and founder of Bisexual Queer Alliance Chicago on October 16, 2010 because the next generation matters. #WeAreBisexuality
