We Are Bisexuality; Kefira

#WeAreBisexuality is a month-long campaign to share the stories of Bisexuals during Bisexual Visibility Month. Stories and photographs shared with the permission of the parties involved. Share your story with us all throughout Bisexual Visibility Month.

Kefira is a 30 year old bisexual woman, who has come out in a way many of us can relate to-

I’ve known since I was in junior high that I was bi, and I’ve been coming out to many people over the years because they refuse to believe it or feel the need to ask me a zillion questions. “

She dealt with some common internalization, that all bisexuals have dealt with at some point-

Letting the people who questioned my bisexuality echo in my head, allowing those thoughts to fester about whether I was truly bi. I knew I wasn’t straight, but because I had only dated men, I felt like I was a hypocrite to call myself bi.”

Because of her experiences, she has something to tell young bisexuals-

“Don’t deny your sexuality, no matter what gender you date. Even if it’s one exclusively, you are still bisexual! I  wish someone had said that to me, I had a long battle about if I was truly “bi enough” to call myself bisexual. ”

And just one wish for the community as a whole-

“That we’ll come together and support ourselves as well as other marginalized groups like ace, aro, pan, trans, etc.”
